Cristina Harris, composer, singer & performer, passionately writes her original brand of music. Her songs have been described as instantly memorable, introspective piano-pop. Her music is strikingly fresh and original. Cristina moved to Los Angeles, California, where her songwriting and craft have sparked the attention of the music, television and movie industry. Growing up around New Haven, Connecticut, Cristina performed in a variety of musicals, operas and plays throughout her childhood. She came from a creative and artistic family. Her grandmother was an opera singer and her grandfather was a filmmaker while her other grandparents were Italian immigrants. Cristina's passion for music strengthened as she reached adulthood. She attended Southern Connecticut State University to study music, in particular composition, jazz and classical piano, and voice. While attending the university she had a short stint in the band The Battlecats where she played keyboard and sang background vocals. Her education continued upon entering a master's program at the University of Portland in Oregon where she studied composition. Frustrated with the conservative environment she became very interested in performance artists such as Meredith Monk and Laurie Anderson. Cristina ended her studies to pursue her passion of songwriting and performance. Cristina teamed up with a variety of talented people in the music industry. She and uncle, Stephen Harris, former member of The Excerpts(Jon Brion)produced her debut CD in 2008. Mark Kuss, an internationally renowned composer, has both mentored and worked exclusively with Cristina on various musical compositions. She has also caught the ear of Del Palmer(Kate Bush), sound engineer and musician and promoter Joseph De Jessa of Falcon Productions. She opened for The Marshall Tucker Band at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, NJ and Johnny Winter at the Delaware River Blues Festival. In February, 2010 Cristina moved to Los Angeles to record with producer and sound engineer Ryan Freeland of Stampede Origin Studio (Aimee Mann, Ingrid Michaelson and Ray LaMontagne). Their collaboration resulted in the production of songs, Banging Away & Gasoline. Cristina performs regularly in Los Angeles where she is actively writing new songs and licensing her music for film and television. Cristina is in the process of planning her first full length EP to be released in the fall of 2010.
